Too much (for) Sauce?

Good Morning! Today is Thursday, November 6. We will get to what happened this week in the world of sports, but first… this is one of the greatest goals we’ve seen in a loooong time:

NBA

Wemby is still really good, the Lakers are winning without LeBron, and Josh Giddey keeps leading the Bulls to impressive victories. But this should be the top story in the NBA this year:

Smile everyone, it’s a long season. There’ll be plenty of time for analysis later.

NHL

Well originally there was going to be more stories to discuss here, but then Alexander Ovechkin had to go and make more history. The Capitals forward became the first NHL player to score 900 career goals:

It’s been a rough season for the Blues and goalie Jordan Binnington, who lost this game 6-1. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t still trying to find some sort of success on the ice:

NCAA BASKETBALL

Outside of UCLA head coach Mick Cronin wanting to “fire himself” for his team’s performance in a win, there hasn’t been too much drama so far in college hoops. Here are three highlights from the early season:

  • (13) Arizona beat the defending champs, taking down (3) Florida 93-87

  • (6) Duke beat Texas 75-60, thanks to 15 points and 13 rebounds from freshman Cameron Boozer.

  • And this may not be Boise State’s year… the Broncos lost to Hawaii Pacific, a team that competes in D-II.

NFL MOVES

The biggest news of the last few days may be the season-ending injury to Los Angeles Chargers star lineman Joe Alt. However, the NFL trade deadline stole headlines as a couple key players changed teams. Here’s what you need to know:

NEWSWORTHY

LIV Golf has announced plans to move to a traditional 72-hole format. "I think it's a peculiar move," said Rory McIlroy, echoing the thoughts of basically everyone else.

Offseason? What baseball offseason? Salvador Perez has signed a two-year deal to stay with the Royals… the Atlanta Braves have promoted bench coach Walt Weiss to manager… Shane Bieber has opted in to the last year of his contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, while Shota Imanaga and the Cubs have declined their mutual option, making the starter a free agent… and the three finalists for each of the major awards have been announced, with winners revealed in the coming weeks.
