The Madness Begins...
Good Morning! Here’s what happened in the world of sports on Thursday, March 13.
Duke’s star freshmen Cooper Flagg went down with an ankle injury that will likely keep him out of this weekend’s ACC tournament. Elsewhere in the ACC, my team lost and I don’t want to talk about it. But let’s move on to the rest of college basketball…
At this point, I really couldn’t tell you which bubble teams are in and which bubble teams are out. UNC and Texas survived another day, while Xavier, Indiana, and Oklahoma lost. Did they switch places in the rankings after one result? The committee has a few tough decisions on their hands… but now for the fun stuff– pick your favorite buzzer beater folks, the Madness of March has begun!

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The all-time leader in three-point shooting reached a new benchmark. Congratulations to Steph Curry on 4,000 career threes! And watch out for the Warriors, who are 13-1 since trading for Jimmy Butler.
Over on the ice, Connor McDavid joined some guy named Wayne Gretzky as the only players ever to record nine consecutive 60-assist seasons. That’s pretty impressive.
TENNIS TIME
A picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s a glimpse of the court during the early-evening duel between Jack Draper and Ben Shelton:

Temperatures dropped below 50, but that didn’t stop Jack Draper– he won this match 6-4, 7-5, beating an American for the third time this week!
Check out the semis and finals at Indian Wells this weekend and you’ll see the future of tennis in action– six of the eight competitors are under the age of 26.
WRAPPING UP
Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox will undergo season-ending finger surgery this week. A disappointing finish this season for San Antonio, but a healthy Fox and returning Victor Wembanyama next year will give fans lots of hope.
Keep an eye on Tampa Bay baseball– the Rays released this statement yesterday, explaining the team will no longer go forward with plans to build a new stadium for 2026. This announcement comes while their current stadium is under repair due to hurricane damage, the team playing this summer at the Yankees minor league park, and pressure from Major League Baseball for the owner to sell the team. Not the kind of stories you want during spring training.
The Player’s Championship is underway in Florida, and we’ve already got some wonderful highlights.
Let’s check in on the Jose Altuve Outfield Experiment… Houston might have a problem:
