Staying inside and going all the way home

Good Morning! Here’s what happened in the world of sports on Tuesday, July 8.

MLB

Baseball! Baseball! Read all about it!

That’s the great thing about the game of baseball. Every day, you’re guaranteed to see something you’ve never seen before…

TENNIS

Tuesday was a day for the favorites at the All England Club. Top-seed Aryna Sabalenka had to mount a small comeback, but otherwise it was fairly smooth sailing for the top seeds in the quarterfinals. (2) Carlos Alcaraz rolled by Cam Norrie to set up a semifinal clash against American (5) Taylor Fritz. Sabalenka, meanwhile, will face off against (13) Amanda Anisimova, who had a little trouble closing out her otherwise dominant victory. Another day of action begins in a few moments!

NOTEWORTHY NEWS

Unless you’re passionate about free agency hypotheticals, yesterday was a fairly slow news day… go watch some tennis!

“Don’t take the wrong job,” –UCF head coach Scott Frost, when asked what lessons he learned at Nebraska. Frost returns to Central Florida this season after he left the school to lead the Cornhuskers in 2017

“He’s just broken the shell, man. He’s just broken the egg and … he’s still got gooey stuff coming off him, all arms and legs. There’s something special about him. I’m excited for him, all of these opportunities and the way it’s happening for him,” –Brewers manager Pat Murphy discussing rookie phenom Jacob Misirowski
