Same old 49ers, same old Jets

Good Morning! Here’s what happened in the world of sports on Monday, September 9th.
NFL
Monday night football gave us the great Aaron Rodgers, back on the field to lead an inspired New York football team. The 49ers are a tough opponent, but it looked a lot like the same old Jets. San Francisco won 32-19– here are the highlights:
News broke right before kickoff that star running back Christian McCaffrey was inactive for the 49ers due to a lingering calf injury. CMC’s absence was no problem for San Fran– Jordan Mason ran the ball a whopping 28 times for 147 yards and a touchdown. It was an impressive performance from Mason, who may have locked down a more permanent role even when McCaffrey returns.
Rodgers had one of the worst statistical performances of his career, throwing for just 167 yards and an interception. His 13 completions is tied for the second lowest number in his career in games where Rodgers has attempted at least 20 passes. The one highlight was a connection with former Packer Allen Lazard on a long touchdown pass.
The star of the game was 49ers kicker Jake Moody. Moody made all six of his field goals, including one from 53 yards.
Pass is broken up and picked off! @49ers take over.

MLB
Monday was travel day for many big league teams. Here’s what stood out among those that were in action:
Cedric Mullins made an outstanding diving catch, Anthony Santander hit his 40th home run of the year, and yet the Orioles lost to the Red Sox 12-3. Tyler O’Neill and Rob Refsnyder hit back-to-back home runs– twice– for Boston.
Paul Skenes struck out nine batters in six innings in a 3-2 Pirates victory over Miami. Skenes now has 151 strikeouts and a 2.10 ERA on the year. Not too shabby.
Tie ballgame, two outs, bases loaded in the ninth inning, Kody Clemens up at the plate for Philadelphia. Take a look at what happens next:
