One more year? Or number one pick?
Good Morning! Here’s what happened in the world of sports on Monday, March 3rd.
WHO’S HOT?
“One more year” was the sound echoing through Cameron Indoor Stadium last night as Duke freshman Cooper Flagg checked out of his final home game with over three minutes remaining. Flagg’s all-around dominance in his finale as a Blue Devil was a pretty accurate snapshot of his season: 28 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and a 33-point victory. It’s not important who Duke played last night or if this opponent will ever make an NCAA tournament.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 51 points in a win over the Houston Rockets. It’s the fourth time this season the Thunder superstar reached the 50-point mark.
WHO’S NOT?
I’m so sorry Mavericks fans. First, news broke that Dallas would be raising season-ticket prices. Then, Kyrie Irving left the team’s loss to the Kings with a sprained knee. Not a great day at the office.
ROSTER MOVES
The Cincinnati Bengals have used the franchise tag on star wideout Tee Higgins for the second season in a row. Neither side will be thrilled by this arrangement, but both are working towards a long-term extension.
Longtime Fox NFL studio analyst Jimmy Johnson announced his retirement. The former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys has been part of Fox’s football coverage for 31 years. "The most fun I ever had in my career, that's counting Super Bowls and national championships, was at Fox Sports," said the 81-year-old. Congrats to Coach Johnson on a spectacular career.
CRAZY PLAY OF THE DAY
Tie game. Grizzlies ball. Ten seconds remaining… wait, which team hit a buzzer-beater?
SECOND-CRAZIEST PLAY OF THE DAY

KEEP AN EYE ON…
The draws have been announced for this week’s Indian Wells tennis tournament in Palm Springs. While there are plenty of great matches on the schedule here in “Tennis Paradise”, one stands out over the others: if he wins his first round match, Nick Kyrgios will face off against Novak Djokovic.
