Lightning strikes twice... for the Panthers
Good day! Ted Middleton here again, reporting on what matters most: NHL playoffs, Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, and slow-pitch softball.
Thrilled to have a spot in your inbox this morning. Let’s dive in!
NHL PLAYOFFS
We start with the game of the night in Florida, as the Panthers took on the Tampa Bay Lightning in a pivotal game five. Tampa Bay scored twice in just 11 seconds and led 2-1 at the end of the second period. But then Florida scored twice… in just 11 seconds! After an empty-net goal, the Panthers won 4-2. An incredible comeback victory earns the defending champions a 3-1 series lead.
Wyatt Johnston scored just nine seconds into the game and the Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-2. Dallas leads the series 3-2 as they head back to Colorado for game six.
NBA PLAYOFFS
The Cavs crushed the Heat… (I assume) Editor’s note: Yes, they did crush the Heat… by a record-setting 55 points! There are too many records to list– you can read them here, but basically Cleveland swept Miami by more points than any team has ever been swept. The Cavs will play the winner of the Bucks-Pacers series in round two (Indiana leads that one 3-1).
And in game two in the NBA last night, Jimmy Butler’s return to Golden State made all the difference. The Warriors beat the Rockets 109-106 thanks to Butler’s 27 points on 7-12 shooting. He also hit five free throws in the final minute and secured the game-winning rebound, completing a masterful all-around performance. Golden State has a 3-1 lead over the number two seed.
C-League Men’s IM Slow-Pitch Softball
“The Clappers” made the playoffs this weekend, a remarkable achievement considering roughly 100% of teams also qualified for the post season. Goes to show that anything is possible in the fast-paced game of slow-pitch softball. They'll take to the diamond as the prestigious six seed, squaring off against The Bombers on Wednesday.

MLB
Hi everyone, Ben here– I’m adding this section at the end because Tommy Edman is awesome and he deserves recognition for his great season. After Dane Myers hit a game-tying grand slam, the Dodgers and Marlins headed into extra innings…
Tommy Edman wins it for the @Dodgers in the 10th! #Walkoff

NOTEWORTHY NEWS
The Madrid Open experienced a cancellation for a day due to the major power outages across Spain and Portugal. Fingers crossed our Editor-in-Chief still has enough electricity to get this newsletter out today. Editor’s note: One of the strangest days of my life, but everyone is ok and things are back to normal now.
The Washington Commanders announced plans to build a new stadium at the site of their old stadium in D.C. proper. “Without exaggeration," new owner Josh Harris said, "this will be the best stadium in the country when it's built."
I know it was reported yesterday by our Editor-in-Chief, but I’m still rattled about the interview with Bill Belichick’s girlfriend. Should Bill cut ties with his shawty? Stay loyal? Go back to New England? Cast your votes by replying to this newsletter… I'll tally the results and report back the next time I guest write for The Remix.
Finally, take a look at these new Chicago Sports Team uniforms…
