NOTEWORTHY NEWS

The calendar turns to August and the NFL starts to creep to the front of the news cycle… The Rams have reached an agreement with running back Kyren Williams on a three-year contract extension worth $33 million. A significant commitment from LA for their workhorse back.

Wide receiver Jordan Addison will face a three-game suspension, the consequence of a DUI from 2024. The talented Minnesota playmaker will be sorely missed by rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy as he begins his career.

We’ve got a reunion! After one season in Chicago, Keenan Allen is returning to the Chargers on a one-year deal.

The Boston Celtics shuffled a few pieces yesterday. First, they traded Georges Niang and two second round picks for rookie RJ Luis. A clear salary-cap move, that opened up a spot for free agent center Chris Boucher.

One of the Yankees’ big-ticket trade deadline acquisitions was reliever Jake Bird. After allowing a walk-off three-run homer last night, New York demoted Bird to AAA. So yeah, things are not going exactly as planned right now for the Bronx Bombers.

"To have such an achievement at a tournament like this is really a milestone for me, and I'm just so happy that I've got to have this whole experience in Montreal. Overall I don't have many words to say, but I just feel so content and so happy,” –Victorio Mboko, the 18-year-old Canadian who advanced to the semifinals at the Canada Open
