Home runs for everyone!

Good Morning! Here’s what happened in the world of sports on Monday, June 2nd.

FRENCH OPEN

Alexander Bublik won the match of the day yesterday with an impressive upset over (5) Jack Draper, while Lois Boisson continued her magical run in her home country with an upset over (3) Jessica Pegula. The quarterfinals are set in Paris…

It’s hard to bet against the favorites– I’m taking Sabalenka and Swiatek in the top half, setting up a must-see popcorn match in the semis. And in the bottom, give me Coco and Andreeva. After that? No idea

It’s felt like Sinner and Alcaraz were destined to meet in the finals, and after watching their spectacular play the last week, it remains difficult to bet against that happening. Bublik, Paul, Tiafoe, and Musetti are each playing spectacular tennis, however, so it’s not going to be an easy road. The Italian, Musetti, has been especially impressive this year on the clay. As for Djokovic and Zverev? Neither one has played a seeded player yet, so I’m not really sure what to make of them.

MLB

Just seven games were played yesterday, so let’s discuss ‘em all. A warning– if you don’t like home runs, this recap won’t be for you:

NOTEWORTHY NEWS

Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow announced his retirement yesterday from the NFL. Just 29 years old, Ragnow was a Pro Bowler each of the last three seasons. He played a crucial part in the explosive Lions offense, and will be sorely missed by the team next season. "I've tried to convince myself that I'm feeling good but I'm not and it's time to prioritize my health and my families future. I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is I simply don't. I have to listen to my body and this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life. The Lions organization has been absolutely incredible throughout this process and I can't emphasize this enough how grateful I am for this team and all the fans. It was an absolute honor going to battle for you all," said Ragnow in a statement.
