Bengals Chase a win, fall just short
Good Morning! Here’s what happened in the world of sports on Thursday, November 7.
NFL
Thursday Night Football delivered quite a game last night in Baltimore. The Ravens battled their division rival the Bengals, and the result came down to the final moments. Here’s what happened:
Cincinnati controlled the majority of this one, and held a 21-7 lead in the third quarter. But after Ravens wide receiver Tylan Wallace broke a tackle and scampered up the sideline for an 84-yard score to start the fourth quarter, Baltimore cut the lead down to just one point.
I hope none of you were playing against Ja’Marr Chase in fantasy football last night. The Bengals wideout went crazy, connecting with QB Joe Burrow on 11 catches for 264 yards and three touchdowns. Chase broke free of defenders all night, like on this 70-yard touchdown reception late in the game:

After the slow start, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens found a rhythm when it mattered most. The two-time MVP led Baltimore on four consecutive touchdown drives to end the game. And still, the Bengals had a chance to win the ballgame. Burrow found Chase in the corner of the endzone with 38 seconds left, and the score was 35-34. Cincinnati decided to go for two and take the lead… the conversion attempt failed, and Baltimore won the game.

NBA
Three games last night in the NBA, so you know what that means… three recaps, coming right up:
The Timberwolves won easily against the Bulls, getting the victory in Chicago by a score of 135-119. Anthony Edwards led the way for Minnesota with 33 points, highlighted by some seriously awesome moves around the basket.
Maybe the Bucks are figuring things out? Milwaukee won their second game of the season, beating the Utah Jazz 123-100. Giannis and Damian Lillard combined for 65 points, 20 rebounds, and nine assists.
And the San Antonio Spurs were the last winner of the evening, taking down the Portland Trail Blazers 118-105. Keldon Johnson and Malaki Branham led the Spurs with 17 points each, but as always, Victor Wembanyama provided the best highlights:

NHL
Time to skate around the NHL on this fine Friday morning:
Connor Hellebuyck recorded his second shutout in a row and 40th shutout in his career as the Winnipeg Jets continued their incredible start to the season. Led by Hellebuyck’s efforts in goal, the Jets beat the Colorado Avalanche 1-0.
Sam Reinhart scored his league-leading 11th goal of the season and the Florida Panthers cruised to a 6-2 win over the Nashville Predators.
The Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames were tied 3-3 with just 20 seconds remaining in overtime. It looked like this one was headed to a shootout, until Bruins captain Brad Marchand gathered his own rebound and flipped in a backhander to win the game 4-3.
Although our San Jose Sharks lost 5-2 against the Minnesota Wild, forward Macklin Celebrini had a pretty special moment. Last year’s number one pick scored both of San Jose’s goals– the youngest player in the league, Celebrini scored on Marc-Andre Fleury, the oldest player.
NOTEWORTHY NEWS
A miserable month keeps getting worse for the Philadelphia 76ers: last season’s Most Improved Player Tyrese Maxey will be out for multiple weeks with a hamstring injury. Paul George is back in action and Joel Embiid returns to the team soon, but the loss of Maxey is a big one. Philly is already 1-6 to start the year.
There’s nothing I can say with words that will convey the amazingness of this goal. Is amazingness even a word? Doesn’t matter. Check this one out:
