And 12 gets you a free burger!
Good Morning! Here’s what happened in the world of sports on Wednesday, August 13.
MLB
It wasn’t just a new album announcement– the theme of yesterday around the country, apparently, was the number 12. The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-5 and extended their win streak to 12 games in a row! We’ve talked enough about Milwaukee’s great season and what this might mean for them in the playoffs; today is about something arguably more exciting. For just the third time in franchise history, a very unique promotion has been unlocked for residents of the city:
🎉 THEY DID IT!!! 🎉 You know what that means? FREE GEORGE WEBB BURGERS are coming! We're buzzing with excitement and working hard to prepare. Please note: Burgers will NOT be ready right away. A special giveaway date will be announced tomorrow with all the details! Stay tuned!

Not all teams won food for their fans yesterday, but there were other baseball games played. Here are a few highlights:
Trailing by a run. Two outs. Ninth inning. And Ketel Marte blasts a three-run homer! The Diamondbacks beat the Rangers 6-4.
For the first time all season, it looks like the Dodgers are going to beat the Angels, as they lead 5-2 in the 5th inning. That lead is thanks to (who else) Shohei Ohtani, who’s 1-2 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored. Oh, and he’s pitched four innings with six strikeouts– including this beautiful fastball that caught Mike Trout looking.
Our Remix Player of the Day is Marlins rookie Jakob Marsee. The young outfielder tied the franchise record with seven RBIs in one game, leading his team to a 13-4 victory over the Guardians. But you have to listen to what he said was the best part of the game:
"first 4-hit game, first multi-hr game, and 7 RBI... which one are you most proud of?"

NOTEWORTHY NEWS
The Bills and running back James Cook have agreed to a four-year, $48 million contract extension. That sound you hear is a sigh of relief from all parties involved plus the population of Buffalo, as one of the more dynamic young backs in the league re-commits to his crucial role in the Bills offense.
After trading away half their roster and severely slashing payroll, the owners of the Minnesota Twins have reversed course and decided not to sell the team. Instead, the Pohlad family explained in this statement, they will look for new investors. We will see how this strategy works out on the field…
The Portland Trail Blazers, however, have been sold. Tom Dundon, owner of the Carolina Hurricanes and majority owner of the Pro Pickleball Association, has agreed to purchase the team and keep them in the city of Portland.
