A slight change in schedule
Good Morning! Here’s what happened in the world of sports on Thursday, August 21.
MLB
Not a lot of action yesterday in the Majors, but I’ve got a few highlights to share:
A’s slugger Tyler Soderstrom went 4-4 and extended his hitting streak to 19 games! The Athletics swept the Twins with an 8-3 victory.
First baseman Vinnie Pasquantino homered for the fourth consecutive game, leading the Royals to a 6-4 win over the Rangers.
Red Sox rookie Roman Anthony hit a two-run homer in his Yankee Stadium debut. Boston beat New York 6-3 in game one of a crucial series between the two rivals.
GOLF
The top 30 golfers of the year teed off yesterday for round one of the Tour Championships. Russell Henley leads at -9, with Scottie Scheffler (-7) and a host of others hot on his tail. I can’t talk about the action, however, without highlighting this amazing sequence on the 18th green. As they say, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good:
NOTEWORTHY NEWS
Today’s noteworthy news concerns the nature of this very publication. First of all, I want to again share how grateful I am for this community. It makes my day every time someone reaches out or mentions how much they enjoy reading The Remix. Truly, I appreciate each and every kind word.
After some careful consideration, I have decided to stop writing every day. Going forward, The Remix will move to a twice-a-week system, with new issues published on Monday and Thursday mornings. There are a variety of reasons for this change, but ultimately I think what matters most is how The Remix will improve. There will no longer be days (like today) with few updates to provide and little new information. Instead, as we move into the fall sports season, I’ll have more flexibility to go in-depth and be creative, allowing for posts that deepen our enjoyment and knowledge of the world of sports.
Don’t worry– there will still be random Tuesdays or maybe even Saturdays where I can’t resist writing about a breaking story. You’ll hear from me plenty, and there won’t be any change in what stories are reported. The only change will be the frequency. To reiterate, instead of every weekday, a new Remix will hit your inbox on Monday and Thursday mornings.
Thank you again for all your support– I hope you’re as excited as I am as we close the book on summer and look ahead to the rest of the year. MLB playoffs, football season, and so much more is right around the corner. I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
